white lightening with a steadily darker stripe down your back
like a measure of your increasing maturity,

a drop fell without warning
exploding into the tranquility
followed by another
seeping into the cracks
of a shattered field of clay
there were no signs of life
dormancy had been mistaken for death
water found its way to seeds
and slumbering creatures
rain drops multiplied
carpeting over with lush greens
lifting the air
filling nostrils of beautiful creatures
come to sip from newly created springs

my voice echoes in your emptiness.

If I could write music
it would be simple notes.
They would be clear,
each phrase would
sing.
A patch of bold isolated notes
yield to harmonic pairs.
There would be no words
only pure sounds
some isolated,
some blending together
forming complex indescribable sounds.
Some parts would weep slowly
other parts would sing
and paint rolling yellow fields
with notes sounding just like laughter.
And some would make the sound
